Listed car seller AutoWallis's vehicle first-half sales edged down 1% year-on-year to 26,125, falling on the performance of the wholesale division, a preliminary report released on Wednesday shows.
Sales of the wholesale division dropped 4% to 17,946, although the decline slowed in the second quarter, AutoWallis said. A fall in KGM brand sales and production challenges at Opel amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz weighed, but a pickup is expected in the coming period, it added.
AutoWallis's wholesale division represents the brands Alpine, BYD, Dacia, Farizon, Geely, Isuzu, Jaguar, KGM, Land Rover, NIO, Nissan, Opel, Renault and XPENG, as well as MG and Saab parts.
In the retail segment, AutoWallis's new car sales increased 10% to 6,417, while used car sales slipped 6% to 1,762.
AutoWallis's retail division represents the brands BMW, BYD, Dacia, Ford, Isuzu, Jaguar, KGM, KIA, a Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, MINI, NIO, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Suzuki, Toyota and XPENG.
AutoWallis's car rental business registered 115,837 rental days in H1, up 16%.
AutoWallis mechanics booked 166,593 hours, 4% more than in the base period.
AutoWallis's rental fleet grew 5% to 4,099 vehicles.
