Output of Hungary's industrial sector rose 10.1% year-on-year in June, a first reading of data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday shows.

Output rose 4.1% when adjusted for the number of workdays, of which there were two more than in the base period. Output rose in most branches of manufacturing. Among the biggest, output in the automotive, the computer, electronic and optical products, and the electrical equipment segments increased, but declined in the food, drinks and tobacco segment.

In a month-on-month comparison, output edged down a seasonally- and workday-adjusted 1.4%. In January-June, industrial output rose 2.4%.

KSH will release detailed data for the month on August 13.

In a comment, Erste Bank macro analyst János Nagy said the June increase was under the market consensus and called the month-on-month decline "a disappointment."

ING Bank chief economist Péter Virovácz said the local industrial sector couldn't break the "good month bad month" trend and pointed to the impact the cut in output of the Paks nuclear power plant would have on data for late July and August.
