Investment volume in Hungary dropped 9.1% year-on-year in the second quarter, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday show.

Adjusted for seasonal effects, investment volume declined 7.1%.

Investment volume in the manufacturing and logistics sectors contributed the most to the headline decline, KSH said. The fall was mitigated by rising investment volume in real estate, it added.

The statistical office noted that investment volume in both the private and the public sectors fell during the period, while household investments grew.

In a quarter-on-quarter comparison, investment volume slipped a seasonally-adjusted 4.3%.

In a summary by MTI, K+H Bank chief analyst Dávid Németh called the fresh data "disappointing" and said the rest of the year would not produce any "spectacular rebound," although investment levels could stagnate.

He added that investment volume could benefit from the arrival of Hungary's European Union funding and improved corporate confidence.
