Hungary had a EUR 69 million trade surplus in July, narrowing from EUR 1.173 billion in the previous month, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday show.
Exports rose 10.8% year-on-year to EUR 13.661 billion. Imports climbed 14.9% to EUR 13.592 billion.
Trade with other European Union member states accounted for 75% of Hungary's exports and 68% of its imports during the month.
Hungary's export volume to the rest of the world decreased 4%, while import volume from those countries rose 11%. Hungary's trade deficit with non-EU countries widened to EUR 914m.
Hungary's terms of trade improved 1.0% during the period as the forint strengthened 10% against the euro and 8% against the US dollar. For January-July, Hungary had a trade surplus of EUR 4.981 billion. Exports increased 8.1% to EUR 94.862 billion and imports rose 10.4% to EUR 89.881 billion.
