The University of Szeged (SZTE), in southern Hungary, has joined the collaborating centers of the World Health Organization, the university said on Wednesday.
According to the university's statement, SZTE has been granted Public Health Innovative Collaboration Center status, which will further increase the university's international role in the area of public health innovation.
The new center will develop public health training programs and implement relevant projects, the statement said, adding that it would promote the development of a regional public health innovation system based on a cooperation between universities, the public sphere, and other players.
It will also contribute to the establishment of a digital knowledge center and database linked to WHO's European public health innovation platform, the statement said.
According to WHO's website, the organization has 800 collaborating centers in 90 countries, with links to the world's best institutes. The centers facilitate an exchange of information and cooperation between facilities across the world.
