Financial services provider Provident Hungary is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. In connection with this milestone year, the company has launched a new conservation partnership with the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society (MME).
In the first year of the partnership, Provident employees have, among other things, built nesting boxes for barn owls, participated in conservation programs, and gained a deeper understanding of Hungary’s owl species and the threats they face. The initiative is scheduled to continue in 2027 with additional, direct owl conservation programs.
Provident has been operating in Hungary for 25 years, and for the company, this anniversary is not only about taking stock of the past quarter-century’s achievements but also about taking responsibility for the future. In line with this, the company’s ProviGreen program has expanded into a new area: Provident has launched a long-term partnership with the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society (MME) that, in addition to nature conservation, aims to shape employees’ environmental awareness and foster their active involvement. The goal of the collaboration is to link community building with tangible conservation results. This is also highlighted as one of the key objectives of the partnership in the MME’s proposal.
As Provident’s Chief Financial Officer Attila Horváth says, “Provident has been part of the life of Hungarian communities for 25 years, so for us, such an anniversary is not only an opportunity to look back, but also to demonstrate the causes to which we wish to commit in the long term. Our partnership with the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society is particularly important to us because it combines tangible conservation results with the active participation of our colleagues. We hope that our 25th anniversary will also mark the beginning of a partnership whose results will be visible for years to come”.
As the first major event of the partnership, a corporate volunteer day was held on October 2, during which Provident employees, with the help of MME experts, assembled five large owl boxes. The collaborative effort was complemented by a nature conservation presentation, during which participants learned more about barn owls and the importance of their protection. As part of the program, employees also had the opportunity to participate in nature education programs and field trips. The MME’s partnership plan called for a volunteer program involving 20–30 people and the construction of five owl boxes.
