Hungary's GDP rose 1.5% in the third quarter from the same period a year earlier, a first reading of data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday shows.
GDP also rose 1.5% when adjusted for seasonal and calendar year effects. Growth was driven by industry and supported by services, while the farm sector weighed "significantly", KSH said.
In a quarter-on-quarter comparison, seasonally- and calendar year-adjusted GDP edged up 0.1%. Hungary's GDP grew 1.7% year-on-year in Q1-Q3.
KSH will publish a detailed reading of the data on December 1.
In a comment, Erste Bank chief macro analyst Orsolya Nyeste called the fresh data a "negative surprise", adding that it was under Erste's expectation for 1.7% growth, level with that in the previous quarter. Erste puts full-year growth at 1.7%.
