Hundreds of taxi drivers blocked roads in downtown Budapest to demand the banning of the Uber service that syphons away customers from them. They claim the Uber service is illegal as it does not conform to the requirements cab drivers must adhere to in Budapest.

Originating from San Francisco, California in the United States, Uber connects would-be travellers with individual car drivers who undertake to transport people to the greed destination for an agreed price. In Budapest, one of the attractive features of Uber is price as minimum fares compulsory for all taxi drivers were raised by the city council in 2013, eliminating the possibility of using competitive prices.
