Crop Warehouse Completed with EU Funding in Hungary

A 655-sqm crop warehouse, completed with HUF 390 million in European Union funding, was inaugurated in Nemesvámos (W Hungary) on Monday.

As part of the project, the municipality also purchased a van and built a property protection system, mayor Balázs Söványházi said at the ceremony.

In the interest of sustainability, a 5-kilowatt solar panel system and an associated energy storage battery were installed on the building, and a 40-cubic-meter rainwater collection system was constructed.

“Combined with the capacity from previous projects in the surrounding area, we are now able to store 60 cubic meters of rainwater, which is enough to meet the town’s irrigation needs,” the mayor added.

Balázs Sövényházi emphasized that the importance of short supply chains is becoming increasingly apparent, which requires cooperation among producers and an appropriate logistical infrastructure.

Thanks to developments in recent years, Nemesvámos now has storage capacity, a processing hall, and a cold storage facility all located side by side; in fact, the village even purchased a weighbridge with its own funds, he explained, outlining the village’s agricultural logistics developments.
