October 8, 2025

A consortium led by Veresi Paradicsom has developed an innovative method for the hydroponic cultivation of strawberries in a HUF 1.2bn project, the agribusiness told MTI.

The three-year project, in which Veresi Paradicsom partnered with Bay Zoltan Applied Research Nonprofit, Carbotech Hungary and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), was supported by HUF 732 million from the National R+D+I Office.

The new cultivation method involves purifying thermal water for use in greenhouse hydroponic systems and regulating artificial lighting, while combining the activity with fish farming.

The method has been used for three production cycles and 'Veresi Strawberries' are now available in stores.
