On the 150th anniversary of the unification of Pest, Buda and Óbuda, this Friday, the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) is offering a HUF 150 day ticket, the company told MTI. On Friday, a HUF 150 ticket will allow you to visit the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the Underground Railway Museum, and the party tram will also be running again.
The BudapestGo 'birthDAY ticket' can be used on public transport vehicles within the boundaries of the Hungarian capital.
The temporary exhibition at the Deák Square Museum, part of the Budapest 150 series, highlights the most important and interesting transport events of the capital over the past century and a half, from 1873 to 2023.
The 150 events are illustrated with photographs and artefacts - models of iconic vehicles, parts, route signs, old ticket types and ticket punches.
In this temporary exhibition, the Underground Railway Museum commemorates the continent's first underground railway, which is on display in an old tunnel section. Alongside the museum vehicles, visitors can discover the history of the MillFAV, the small underground railway, which has been in operation since 1896, through artefacts, original documents, plans, maps, photographs and models. The exhibition is open until the end of the year.
To celebrate Budapest's 150th birthday, the party tram will also be running again. The GANZ industrial articulated runs from Thursday to Saturday from 17:00 to 23:00 hours between Kelenföld railway station and Deák Ferenc Square.
You can only get on and off at the terminus. Eighty people at a time can travel on the birthday special, with advance registration.
