Called Budavári Sikló in Hungarian, the funicular railway of Budapest links Adam Clark Square at the Széchenyi Chain Bridge with the Buda Castle above. The line was opened on March 2, 1870, and has been in municipal ownership since 1920. It was destroyed in the Second World War and reopened only on June 4, 1986. This Monday, a plaque commemorating the 150th anniversary was inaugurated by the leaders of Budapest and the Budapest Transport Company.
