From this Saturday, the Zugliget Libegő (Chairlift) will run again every day, according to the normal opening hours in the Buda Hills.
The chairlift was restarted as early as the end of May, but with reduced opening hours. However, from August 1, with the exception of maintenance days on Mondays of even-numbered weeks, it will be open to the public every day from ten in the morning to seven in the evening.
At the time of the epidemiological emergency, taking advantage of the forced downtime, the fifty-year-old means of transport was technically renewed this year. As part of the reconstruction, the operation of the lift became even safer with the renovated drive system.
The chairlift route from Zugliget to János Hill is 1,040 meters long, the level difference between its two stations is 262 meters, and it travels this distance in about 12 minutes. The support cable runs in two places under the wheels of the columns and above the wheels at the others.
Its upper station is located on the Hármaskút roof, slightly below the top of the 527-meter high János Hill. The Children's Railway can be reached from 'János-hegy' or 'Virágvölgy' stations with a short forest walk.
