A HUF four billion development project has been launched at the Budapest site of 77 Elektronika Ltd. The medical diagnostics equipment manufacturer is relocating its entire Budapest production capacity to a single site and, at the same time, is implementing significant technological upgrades, the company told MTI on Wednesday.

The 100% Hungarian-owned company is financing the investment exclusively from its own resources. The new unit will be built at the current Fehérvári út site, covering an area of approximately 8,000 square meters, which is more than two and a half times the size of the previous production base.

As part of the project, solar panels will be installed on the roof of the production hall, and digital and Industry 4.0 solutions will be further expanded. According to current plans, the investment will be completed by the end of 2026.

Sándor Zettwitz, managing owner of 77 Elektronika Ltd., said that the company, which exports to nearly 100 countries around the world, aims to further improve the measurement accuracy of its laboratory-grade Dcont blood glucose meter product line. In addition, the strategic focus is on supplementing the UriSed urine sediment testing system with new measurement technologies and developing a rapid, innovative diagnostic test.
