The American company Arconic that specializes in lightweight metals engineering and manufacturing has announced that its Hungarian subsidiary, Arconic-Köfém Ltd., received the 2019 Chain Bridge Budapest Award. Launched in 2017, this prize is awarded each year by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) to the company that makes the greatest contribution to the development of the Hungarian business community and society as a whole.
The award ceremony took place this September at the Consulate General of Hungary in New York that hosted a special event where investment opportunities in Hungary were put into limelight. The prize was given to the US company in recognition for their outstanding journey in Hungary, from a small manufacturing unit to a European center.
With a history of more than a quarter of a century in Hungary, Arconic now has manufacturing and office units in Székesfehérvár and Nemesvámos, both in Midwestern Hungary, serving customers in the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation and industrial markets. Through these highly advanced facilities and the dedication of the local workforce, Arconic's Hungarian presence has developed into a key contributor to five of the company's main global businesses and one of the 10 largest US investors in the manufacturing sector in Hungary.
Arconic was among the first companies to establish a business service center in Hungary, in 1996. The Global Shared Services Center in Székesfehérvár now covers Financial and Administrative services globally, while the Central Support Services serves the local units.
Arconic currently employs approximately 2,200 people in Hungary and has built a strong cooperation with six universities, also taking part in the dual education system.
