Due to a shortage of parts, production at German car manufacturer Audi's Hungarian factories will be halted from next week, the news site telex.hu reported.
Telex's information was confirmed by the communications department of Audi Hungaria Plc. on Tuesday. They wrote to the news site that due to a shortage of semiconductor components, most of the company's factories will stop production next week (week 25).
Audi workers will be "exempted from their work obligations from next Monday onwards, subject to a rolling working time limit". It has not yet been announced when production is expected to resume.
Workers of the company in Hungary are reported to have been informed that there is a shortage of parts following the complete closure of Malaysia due to the coronavirus and that until this is resolved, most of the Volkswagen group's production sites will be affected.
