As a result of a HUF 50 billion (EUR 150 million) investment, a new production hall has been added to the existing site of REHAU-Automotive Ltd. in Újhartyán, SE of Budapest. Close to 15% of the investment cost is covered by Hungarian taxpayers through a government decision.
In the plant of 63,000 square meters, plastic bumpers will be made with cutting-edge robotic technology primarily for Mercedes-Benz’s operation in nearby Kecskemét.
REHAU, a German family business seated in Switzerland, has purchased the most modern production technology, and it has installed a painting line that is suitable to cover an area of two million square meters per year.
Having a tradition of over seventy years, REHAU is active in several industries. In automotive polished elements are produced at 50 sites in ten countries for five leading car manufacturers. REHAU is known for being among the global market leaders of painted plastic components.
The most modern factory of the corporation’s global network started its operation in Újhartyán in early 2020, which is its second site in the country on top of the one in Győr. Up to 900 workers are employed by the corporate group in Hungary which number is set to go up by 300-350 in the following 2-3 years, according to the hungarian Investment Promotion Agency.
