Despite the economic difficulties, the economic indicators of Hungary's BioTechUSA Group improved last year, with the turnover of one of Europe's largest manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements rising to HUF 93.7 billion, the company told MTI on Thursday.
It said the wholly domestically owned group increased its turnover by 3.5%, while its EBITDA rose by 2% to HUF 10.68 billion.
They stressed that the group has placed great emphasis on efficiency improvements, technology and product development, strategic investments, and continued to expand in foreign markets while maintaining its leading position in the domestic market.
The BioTechUSA group has four brands, 1,900 employees and 4,500 partners. Present in 103 countries with 49 webshops and 328 stores, they said in the statement.
They added that the group started 2024 from a high base, having doubled its turnover in three years between 2021 and 2023, with growth of 42%, 29% and 15%, respectively. To maintain this competitive advantage, the dietary supplements market has been optimized in all areas, from sourcing to manufacturing and distribution channels, and has also required value-added investments and innovative product development.
The growth rate has slowed somewhat compared to previous years, but the company has achieved an all-time sales record, they note. In addition, profitability and profitability were maintained: profit after tax was HUF 7.77 billion, up from HUF 7.17 billion a year earlier, while EBITDA, or earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, rose from HUF 10.47 billion to HUF 10.68 billion.
In 2024, the company entered five new countries – Egypt, Honduras, Curaçao, Cambodia and Uzbekistan – and achieved double-digit growth in the Spanish, French, Slovak, Romanian, Israeli and Polish markets. Last year, 31 new stores were opened as a result of a HUF 1.5 billion investment.
