The real estate investment company S IMMO Hungary, which manages the property, will install more than 400 solar panels on top of the Blue Cube office building in the Hungarian capital.
The company, which is also listed on the Austrian stock exchange, aims to minimize its ecological footprint, including the transformation of the Blue Cube into a 'Green Cube' and, as part of its green strategy, provide the electricity supply of all domestic buildings from renewable energy sources from January this year.
The iconic Blue Cube office building will be fitted with 438 solar panels (199.29 kWp -968 sqm) on top of the building, which will cover 20-25% of the total energy consumption of the office building.
"As a first serious step in our green strategy, we provide the electricity supply of all S IMMO Hungary buildings from green, renewable energy sources from January 1, 2022," the company’s CEO, Géza Barabás said.
S IMMO Hungary, a leading player in the Hungarian property management market, will provide all buildings in the Hungarian portfolio with a BREEAM green rating in the coming period – currently, 5 out of 7 office buildings are already rated. However, this is only the first step on the road to a more sustainable future: the company is constantly minimizing its ecological footprint.
