At noon this Wednesday, the number of passengers at Budapest Airport this year officially reached 10 million – the number of people who used the airport in 2015 equals the population of Hungary, which is the highest traffic record of all time, so far.
According to a statement by Budapest Airport, a group of Budapest Airport
employees greeted Zsolt Lukács and his wife Judit in Terminal 2A this morning
who are the 10 millionth passenger at the airport this year. Theywon the opportunity to fly again after almost ten years, winning the tickets to Istanbul to spend a four-day long weekend there, courtesy of Pegasus of Turkey.

now officially joined the elite club of airports handling eight-digit numbers
of passengers within a year. The couple living in Tata, both of them teachers,
won the title in the prize competition of Budapest Airport.
To commemorate the record,
Budapest Airport CEO Jost Lammers received the lucky passengers in SkyCourt,
also offering cakes to other passengers in the terminal. In his speech during
the ceremony, Jost Lammers commented that “this is a proud moment for Budapest Airport, as
surpassing the 10 million mark speaks volumes for our hard work and our staying
power as one of the leading airports of Europe.”
