Budapest Airport is set to develop a new business park area on the southern edge of the airport. Although, the area adjacent to national road No.4 has been out of use for long time, it was marked in the Budapest Airport development plans as the site of a future business and commercial park.
The offices, warehouses and logistics centers that were intended as possible future tenants in the planned Business Park development area on the airport site will now start to become reality. With building permits obtained and the first lease agreement signed, visible changes will be seen at the site from spring 2013.
Site preparation begins in December 2012 and the construction of the first offices and warehouses may start in 2013 as early as weather permits. While Budapest Airport was forced to postpone the construction of a new Cargo City near Terminal 2A this year due to the collapse of Malév Hungarian Airlines, there are other development opportunities on the vast airport site.
The area selected for Business Park development has long been disused by the airport and its partners. With serious new tenants on the horizon not only from aviation but also from logistics, warehousing and other sectors, Budapest Airport gave the green light to the development of the Business Park whose construction and operation will create several hundred new jobs in the Southern Pest area. This is a very promising development zone for industries based on advantageous aviation and road infrastructure.
