Construction Output Volume Up on 2020 Pandemic Base

The volume of construction output in Hungary in October 2021 surpassed the previous year’s level by 14.5% according to raw data. Output was 19.7% higher in the construction of buildings and 9.7% larger in civil engineering compared to October of the pandemic year 2020.

According to data published by the country's Central Statistical Office, in October 2021 compared to the same month of the previous year:

Output rose in both main groups of construction: by 19.7% in the construction of buildings and by 9.7% in civil engineering. Output in the divisions of construction grew by 23.2% in the construction of buildings, and by 8.7% in civil engineering. Specialised construction activities increased by 13.0% compared to the previous year.

The volume of new contracts concluded lessened by 3.7%, within it the volume of new contracts for the construction of buildings was 4.5% lower and the volume regarding civil engineering decreased by 2.9% in relation to the October 2020 base.

The volume of the end-of-October stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 6.7% above the end-of-October-2020 level. The volume of contracts was up by 12.6% for the construction of buildings and by 2.8% for civil engineering, year-on-year.
