As of this week, El Al Airlines of Israel flies its Budapest-Tel Aviv route once a week with a Boeing 747-400 type ‘Jumbo’ aircraft. The first Jumbo Jet landed at Budapest airport this Tuesday. The same type of plane will fly this route for the next seven weeks.
As the El Al Director for Hungary, János Váradi said, the 400-seat capacity aircraft was almost full and the other flights in question are also get tickets for, as well. These flights are usually filled by Israeli tourist groups visiting Hungary but they are also used by Hungarian tourists as well as businesspeople. The use of bigger plane is justified by an upturn in tourism between Hungary and Israel, he added.
