EU Support for Hungarian Space Industry Technology Firm

Admatis Research, Manufacturing and Trading Ltd., based in Miskolc, NE Hungary, has secured EUR 105 million in EU funding to further develop its specialized heat treatment technology, one of the company’s core competencies, Tamás Bárczy, the company’s founder, owner, and managing director, told MTI.

According to his statement, the non-repayable grant will also be used to purchase a special heat treatment furnace, which will be used to carry out the final phase of manufacturing multi-layer thermal insulation blankets.

The goal of the development is to establish a specialized heat treatment process that serves as an essential final step in aerospace manufacturing and is applied to all equipment intended for space.

The essence of the technology is to remove contaminants from satellites on Earth before launch.

The total investment amounts to HUF 209 million. As part of the project, the company is also renovating one of its sites in Miskolc to ensure the necessary conditions for installing the new equipment.

Admatis was founded in 2000 and currently participates in various satellite missions as a supplier for international space industry projects.

The company conducts aerospace engineering and research and development activities, primarily in the fields of materials science and thermal systems; its main focus is the design, development, and manufacture of thermal subsystems for satellites.

In addition, they manufacture mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) and specialized transport and test equipment, and participate in providing technical support for Earth observation, scientific, and space exploration missions.

Tamás Bárczy emphasized that Admatis does not engage in mass production but offers custom engineering solutions. The company manufactures and tests the designed devices and delivers them to customers along with the necessary documentation, who then integrate them into space vehicles.
