Europe's Largest Organic Fertilizer Processing Plant

The Master Good Group started developing the technology and production line more than 10 years ago, which has enabled it to produce organ grindings. Construction of the new plant will start this year, so that by 2026 BioFer's products will be manufactured in a factory with an expanded capacity. The tripling of the current capacity means that Europe's largest organic fertilizer factory will be built in our country.

"The development itself, at under HUF 100 million, is worth nearly HUF 10 billion. The tender is expected to be announced in June, and at that moment we will be on the starting line, which means that we will start the investment once we have the plans, contractors and negotiated prices," Master Good Group owner László Bárány, Sr. says. "We are talking about a period of implementation and development lasting more than a year. In the second half of 2026, the new factory with its expanded capacity will be operational.  Our current capacity is 30,000 tons, and as a result of the development, the capacity will triple to 100,000 tons per year. Today, the largest capacity plant in Europe producing a similar product has a capacity of only 70,000 tons," he points out.

Where will enough raw material come from for a factory with three times the capacity? Master Good plans to double its current chicken slaughtering capacity by 2029.

The Master Good Group's animal husbandry business, including chicken rearing and fattening, is Baromfi-Coop Ltd. The Master Good slaughterhouse in Kisvárda processes 86 million chickens a year. Every year, 4-5 new chicken fattening plants are built to provide live stock. This increase in fattening capacity will also ensure the raw material requirements of the second chicken slaughtering plant. Rearing will be carried out, as is the case 99% of the world, in so-called deep house rearing. This means that the clean, disinfected shed floor is covered with litter. Once the reared chickens are removed, this litter is enriched with organic chicken manure. As Master Good's poultry production has grown, so has the problem of manure disposal. That's why, for more than 10 years now, the company has decided to make use of this chicken manure-enriched litter and process it using an automated manure digestion system. This is how BioFer was born, a superfood for the soil, a soil conditioner with an extremely high nutritional value by keeping micro- and macroelements in organic bonds. “We don't throw value away,” László Bárány Sr. explains. "At the moment, the total annual amount of manure for the Poultry Coop and Master Good's chicken fattening partners is about twice what we can currently use in the BioFer factory. There is therefore a substantial amount that we cannot currently process at the factory. So, from the second half of 2026, the amount of manure that is currently being put on the land in the form of raw manure will be reduced. In addition, the Master Good group has started to double its current capacity, building a chicken processing plant in Kisvárda by 2029, the same size as the current one. New poultry plants will also be built, so that by 2027-2028 we will catch up with BioFer's increased processing capacity with the necessary raw material and feedstock," he adds.
