Biotechnology company GenePlanet, a partner of SYNLAB Hungary Ltd., will enter the Hungarian market with new genetic screening services, the biotechnology company told MTI on Monday. The company has raised EUR 20 million in capital for its global growth.
According to the statement, in addition to the partnership with SYNLAB Hungary Ltd., GenePlanet has also established its own local healthcare team in Hungary to work with local doctors to make certain genetic tests directly available to patients.
GenePlanet's genetic testing solutions take into account both clinical and lifestyle factors. With the capital raised, the company is poised to further strengthen its position in the genetic testing industry, taking into account the growing interest in personalized medical solutions and proactive preventive healthcare, the statement said.
The company said it has completed a EUR 20 million Series B capital raising led by BlackPeak Capital, with the participation of several major investors.
The fundraising is designed to support GenePlanet's continued global growth and the development of an advanced AI system with a large language model.
GenePlanet is a leading provider of predictive genetic testing in Europe, with a presence in more than 35 countries and nearly 100,000 customers. The company is also included in the Financial Times' list of the 1000 fastest growing EU companies and in the European Commission's ‘Top 35 EU Unicorns’. SYNLAB Hungary Ltd., a Budapest-based subsidiary of SYNLAB Group, has been operating in Hungary since 2010. It employs around 900 people, performs more than 5,000 different tests for its patients, is available at 100 blood collection sites nationwide and works with more than 2,500 medical partners.
