Vajda Papír has put into operation the modern production lines that will be used to make one million medical masks a day in Dunaföldvár, south of Budapest.
The Hungarian government contributed HUF 1.1 billion (close to 80%) to the HUF 1.4 billion investment carried out within the framework of the Health Industry Support Program. The development created 16 new jobs and ensured the preservation of 134 jobs, according to Finance minister Mihály Varga.
The aim of the program for Hungary is to be self-sufficient in the production of health care protective equipment, reducing the range of health care products that must be procured from abroad.
Following the favorable experiences of recent months, the current budget of the program (HUF 50 billion) will be increased to HUF 68 billion. So far, projects that represent progress in the production of protective equipment, medical devices, pharmaceutical raw materials and disinfection products have been supported, Mihály Varga added.
