Hungary moves up in Internet speed world ranking

Average speed for Internet access in Hungary is 12.58 Mb/sec, which puts this country into the world top 20. The list that continues to be headed by South Korea features several East European states in high positions.

While a year ago, Hungary was 21st in the world regarding the average download speed, it is now 18th. As far as upload speed, with its 3.73 Mb/sec figure, Hungary is ranked 22nd among the 162 countries and territories surveyed by netindex.com.

Apart from Hungary, the current top 20 list features six other states from Eastern Europe. This may be attributed to the fact that the spreading of high-speed access in these countries began later than in the United States, for example, that is ranked 25th only, and thus, the latest technology is used in higher percentage of the households, pushing the average speed higher.
