With an investment of HUF 20 billion, Lipóti Tóth & Társai Ltd. has built Hungary's largest bread, pastry and confectionery production plant in Hatvan, east of Budapest. The development will create 260 new jobs.
The Hungarian-owned family business, which employs 70 subcontractors and has around 350 outlets, is the only bakery company to sell its fresh products with almost nationwide coverage.
At the event, founder-owner Péter József Tóth said that the 20,000-square-meter plant in Hatvan was built in two years with the help of a HUF 6.7 billion government grant and a substantial equity contribution, as well as a bank loan. The investment is aimed at strengthening the international competitiveness of the company, which has been operating for more than 30 years, and at building a network of stores with full national coverage in the domestic market within 2-3 years, he added.
Hatvan Mayor Richárd Horváth called the handover a moment of celebration and said that the owners and their helpers deserve recognition for not only daring to dream but also for being able to make it a reality. The municipality of Hatvan has contributed and will continue to contribute to this with a business-friendly environment and predictability, as well as a partnership with service providers, helping local companies to operate successfully and to settle down, he said.
