Intersnack Hungary Ltd., the manufacturer of Chio snack products, has invested HUF 1.5 billion in a new automatic packaging system at its factory in Győr, NW Hungary.
Intersnack Hungary said that the new machines are part of the company's consistent development over the past 10 years. The company has invested nearly HUF 4.5 billion in the modernization of its production site over the past three years and will spend HUF 8 billion on upgrades in Győr over the next year.
The Hungarian plant has already been the company's flour snack production center in Central Europe, and from next year it will be the production site for almost the entire group's new chips. The Győr plant's capacity will be increased by almost 25% as a result of the development, and the share of exports in production will continue to grow. Last year, nearly 12 thousand tons of products were produced for export, worth HUF 10.3 billion.
Intersnack has been present in the Győr-Sopron-Moson county economy for 31 years. Products manufactured in Győr account for more than 74% of the company's turnover. Since the beginning of its operations, the company has produced a total of 350,000 tons of salty snacks, and has shipped products from Győr to 27 countries around the world, including Uruguay, China and the United States.
Intersnack Hungary currently employs 338 people and has contracts with 432 Hungarian suppliers and partners. It purchases 8,500 tons of wheat annually from 60 Hungarian farmers in the region.
