JYSK's turnover in the 2022/23 financial year ended August increased by 6.3 percent to DKK 38.5 billion (EUR 5.2 billion), a new record for the global home furnishings company, with the number of customers in its more than 3,300 stores in 48 countries increasing by 1.2 million, the company told MTI on Tuesday.
The statement highlighted that Hungarian JYSK also performed well, with sales revenue exceeding HUF 97 billion, an increase of 44% compared to the 2021/2022 financial year, but this includes the results of the logistics base in Ecseri, opened in November 2022.
JYSK opened three new stores in Hungary in the 2022/2023 financial year, bringing the total number of stores in the country to 94.
Sándor Szimeiszter, JYSK's Country Director for Hungary, Austria and Greece, said in a statement that despite the challenges, a new 900+ sqm unit was opened in Nagyatád this financial year, while two new JYSK stores were opened in the Budapest agglomeration, in Solymar and Mór, at the end of August. In addition to the opening of new stores, existing stores are being continuously renovated.
He added that JYSK's regional distribution center in Ecseri, which was opened last year, serves Hungarian, Croatian, Slovakian and Slovenian stores, as well as online orders from the four countries. The EUR 200 million investment has made the center the largest of its kind in the country, with two fully automated high-bay warehouses over 40 meters high. The towers have space for 100,000 pallets of goods and the center receives 180 trucks a week. Another 35 jobs have been created to service online orders, so that more than 300 people now work in the distribution center.
JYSK is a Scandinavian-rooted international retail home furnishing chain with more than 3,300 stores and online shops in 48 countries. Founder Lars Larsen opened his first store in Denmark in 1979 and the group employs 30,000 people.
In Hungary, JYSK has more than 1,000 employees and 94 stores.
