German automotive firm Kirchhoff invests EUR 50 million in total at its sites in Esztergom and Dorog, both located in Pest County, to expand its Hungarian operation significantly. The projects are to create 80 new jobs, according to the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency.
Kirchhoff Automotive is an international supplier that offers body solutions to make mobility safer. The German-owned company has been present in Hungary since 2004 when it started to produce body components exclusively for Suzuki.
Kirchhoff has been expanding ever since, and its current capacity allows to serve the needs of nearly 20 buyers. After the plant in Esztergom was extended as a result of a EUR 5.3 million back in 2019, now that orders for larger and more complex assemblies are in the pipeline, Kirchhoff has begun a whole new expansion phase worth EUR 50 million in total.
The project affects two production sites. In Dorog, serial production for four automotive customers is scheduled to start in a modernized production and logistics hall of 6,300 square meters from 2024 on. Furthermore, the headquarters in Esztergom will witness the construction of two production and logistics halls with a total area of 6,200 square meters.
The project reflects the boom in the automotive sector in Hungary of which production volume increased by 27.4% in the first five months of 2023.
