Magyar Suzuki has reached another milestone: the 500,000th S-CROSS model has rolled off the production line in Esztergom, the company told MTI on Friday.
The model, which was completed on September 28, is a hybrid with automatic transmission.
It was recalled that ten years ago, the Japanese automotive company presented and started production of the SX4 S-CROSS C-category crossover model at Magyar Suzuki's Esztergom plant, which left the SX4 designation in 2021.
It has been announced that while the 2013 and 2016 models were still available with conventional petrol engines, Magyar Suzuki has been selling the S-CROSS with hybrid powertrains only for the European markets since 2020. This is part of the Suzuki Group's sustainability ambition to serve customers worldwide with a carbon neutral plant and portfolio by 2050.
Magyar Suzuki Plc. was founded in 1991 and remains the only European manufacturing unit of the Japanese parent company. The company contributes to the livelihood of approximately 10,000 employees through its partners, suppliers and a national dealer network of 78 dealers.
The Esztergom plant started production in October 1992. It is here that the Vitara and the new S-CROSS models are produced, now also in hybrid versions. The company also delivers to distant countries such as Mexico, New Zealand and Japan. In addition to producing vehicles for the Hungarian and international markets, the company also sells imported Suzuki cars, motorcycles and marine engines.
According to publicly available company data, Magyar Suzuki Plc.'s net sales last year were EUR 2.14 billion, compared to EUR 1.75 billion a year earlier. In 2022, the company closed with a profit of EUR 22.65 million, while in 2021 it had a profit after tax of EUR 48.87 million.
