According to a statement from the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the South Korean company's investment of approximately HUF 22.5 billion is aimed at improving battery manufacturing processes. Hungarian taxpayers contributed HUF 5.5 billion to the project, helping to create a number of high value-added jobs requiring serious engineering skills.

According to the announcement, this investment will further increase the capacity and safety of electric batteries while improving the economy and sustainability of production.

Samsung SDI, which has been present in Hungary since 2018, cooperates with the largest technical universities, thus also playing its part in the modernization of domestic higher education. This latest investment is also being carried out in collaboration with Óbuda University and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and one of the company's five global research and development centers will be located in Göd.

South Korean companies currently constitute the fourth largest investor community in Hungary, and investments from this East Asian country have contributed significantly to the development of the domestic economy in recent years.
