Húsüzem ['Meat plant'] Ltd., a meat processing company based in Zalaegerszeg (SW Hungary), and Széchenyi István University in Győr (NW Hungary) have partnered to develop a product line with health benefits by transforming meat industry by-products through biotechnology in Zalaegerszeg.

The project was supported by Hungarian taxpayers with a HUF 407 million grant from the National Research, Development and Innovation (NKFI) fund.

It aims to reduce the environmental footprint, energy and water consumption, and waste generation of meat production. New products include reduced-fat ones for children, enriched with protein, calcium, magnesium and trace elements, as well as fiber and prebiotics.

Húsüzem Ltd. has 80 employees. It had HUF 1.2 billion revenue in 2024, public records show.
