The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét, East Central Hungary has modified its production program until the 17th calendar week due to supplier difficulties, the company told the business daily Világgazdaság.
The calendar week referred to is the one from 26 April to 2 May, however, the local news website reported that the car manufacturing plant was shut down on Wednesday and that production would be suspended until 2 May due to a shortage of parts.
According to the company, some semiconductor components are currently experiencing supplier difficulties in the supply of parts worldwide.
Due to the constantly evolving situation, it is too early to make any predictions about the further impact at this stage, the automaker said.
According to Mercedes-Benz, "the implementation of priority strategic projects and the performance of essential operational tasks is continuing without interruption." The Kecskemét plant will also use these days for rebuilding and maintenance activities and for preparations for series production of the new model.
