Hungarian oil and gas company MOL announced on Tuesday the expansion of its Plugee network of EV charging stations with European Union support.
Mol Plugee, the Mol Group’s electric mobility service provider, is establishing and developing ultra-fast charging infrastructure at nine Mol charging stations in Hungary; the company has secured 396 million forints in funding for this project under the Széchenyi Plan Plus program. Of the total funding, HUF 393 million is a loan and HUF 3.3 million is a non-repayable grant.
Mol Plugee plans to purchase and install ultra-fast chargers with a capacity of 300–600 kW, which will enable next-generation electric vehicles to charge faster and more efficiently, the company stated.
When selecting locations for the developments, they focused on areas where charging infrastructure is limited or where, based on the utilization of existing charging stations, capacity would no longer be sufficient in the long term.
As part of the project, a new charging station will be established in Tiszafüred, and capacity will also be expanded at several existing locations. The municipalities involved include Nyíregyháza, Siófok, Vecsés, Budaörs, Balatonlelle, Páty and Mosonmagyaróvár.
