Following the HUF 50 billion investment announced two years ago and the HUF 35 billion investment launched last year, Nestlé Hungária is again embarking on a large-scale development of its pet food production base in Bük, NW Hungary, according to a company press release.
The new investment of nearly HUF 140 billion announced this Friday will build an ultra-modern automated warehouse and a wet pet food production plant, creating 250 additional jobs in the second most populous settlement of the Kőszeg district.
Nestlé Hungária is expanding its capacity at its Purina factory in Bük with a new production area of more than 35,000 square meters and an ultra-modern automated warehouse. One of the region's largest employers is investing HUF 140 billion of its own resources in the wet pet food production unit and the adjacent automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) warehouse.
This is a huge sum, the factory says, even higher than the one by which Nestlé Purina in Bük, one of Europe's largest pet food factories, which currently employs nearly 1,400 people, created 250 new jobs in the region with a HUF 50 billion investment package in 2020 and another HUF 35 billion in 2021. This, together with the investment just announced, will create more than 500 new jobs at the factory within five years.
"The new investment will not only create jobs, but will also stimulate demand, as it will further increase the volume of agricultural raw materials coming from Hungarian suppliers," Nestlé Hungária's Managing Director Péter Noszek said. He also justified the series of developments by saying that demand for animal feed could continue in Hungary as well as in the more than 50 foreign target markets where Bük products are sold. He added that the new plant, with a capacity of more than 100,000 tons a year, will also benefit the region as a whole through indirect job creation.
