Budapest hotel offering sees new unit
Spain’s Barceló Group opened its first four-star hotel in downtown Budapest, state news service MTI reported, citing the developer company Sunbelt Group. Barceló operates more than 250 units in 22 countries worldwide. The Barceló Budapest, which was developed at a cost of close to EUR 46 million, has 5 suites, a number of double rooms, a conference room that can accommodate 80 people and several meeting rooms. The initial headcount of 20 is set to increase to 35 and the hotel will also employ external staff. The Király-street building housing the hotel functioned as the headquarters of a bank, later as an office building, and has undergone extensive renovations in the past two years. Barceló signed a 25-year lease agreement with Sunbelt, which is owned by Hungarian investors. Sunbelt, which opened its first hotel in the Hungarian capital in 2017, plans three further hotel developments in the coming years.
