The construction of a new production hall by BAT Pécs Tobacco Factory (BAT PD), a HUF 60 billion investment, has reached the halfway point. Once completed, it will make the company's site one of the world's largest nicotine patch production centers, the company told MTI on Tuesday.
According to BAT PD's announcement, the investment is “proof of the group's commitment to reducing the health impact of its operations and contributing to the creation of a smoke-free world.”
They emphasized that the 7,500-square-meter facility will significantly increase BAT's production capacity for tobacco-free nicotine patches, and the development will create 450 new jobs in the region and further strengthen the strategic role of the Pécs factory in BAT's global supply chain.
They noted that products manufactured in Pécs are currently exported to more than 40 countries worldwide.
The plant's manufacturing technology represents the highest level of innovation, and the Pécs factory has the potential to become a true center of excellence within BAT's global network.
