Hungary’s vehicle market has been stagnating for two months now and just like in March, new passenger car registrations have hardly changes in April compared to the same month of 2010, the latest figures of Datahouse showed on Monday.
Datahouse data show that 28 more new passenger cars were registered in Hungary in April 2011 than in the same month of 2010. There was a minor upturn on the local new car market following sharp declines in 2009 and early 2010, but it seems that even this mild increase is has come to a halt now.
New car sales were up by a total of 3,690, a mere 0.8% year on year in April, but the number of new car registrations is still about half the April 2009 levels and about a quarter of the April 2008, pre-crisis print.
Ford, which has been almost always the top seller in the past months, slipped back to the fifth place, with sales down 40% year on year at 262 units. Opel recorded the most cars sold last month, with sales up 17% year on yearr. Skoda came in second and Volkswagen third.
