Tamás Ács has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Unilever Hungary and Adriatic Region, responsible for the markets of Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in addition to Hungary.
Unilever said on Monday that this is the first time since 2015 that the company has a Hungarian managing director.
Tamás Ács joined Unilever in 2017. He has a broad knowledge of the industry, having previously worked as a director and executive at Danone and Mars, and was also president of the Brand Association for four years.
The statement recalled that under the leadership of Alberto di Leo, the outgoing Managing Director, the capacity expansion projects of the Algida ice cream plant in Veszprém, which cost more than HUF 10 billion, and the one in Nyírbátor, a household chemical plant, worth around HUF 23 billion, were completed.
According to the annual report of the British-Dutch Unilever, its turnover increased by 9% last year to EUR 60.1 billion. The company's annual profit for 2022 as a whole was EUR 8.269 billion, up 24.9% on the previous year's EUR 6.621 billion. Unilever is present in more than 190 countries and reaches 3.4 billion consumers every day, making it a global leader in food, cosmetics and household cleaning products, with 127,000 employees last year.
Unilever Hungary Ltd. employs more than 1,300 people in its Budapest office and its factories in Hungary.
According to publicly available company data, Unilever Hungary Ltd. achieved net sales of HUF 122.5 billion in 2022, up from HUF 99.4 billion in 2021, and its profit after tax increased from HUF 2.88 billion in 2021 to HUF 3.8 billion in 2022.
