Hungarian-owned BioTech USA Ltd. establishes a new nutrition bar plant in Szada, east of Budapest, with a EUR 25.2 million investment. As a result of the project to be completed by late 2024, BioTech USA, a leading European food supplement producer plants to create 100 jobs. Nearly a quarter of the investment cost is covered by Hungarian taxpayers through a government decision.
Founded in 2014, BioTech USA Kft. currently manufactures at its sites in Szada and Dunakeszi (north of Budapest) on an area of 36,000 sqm, and the project that has been announced now will lead to the establishment of a new building complex of 18,000 sqm in Szada.
The greenfield investment will result in building a new nutrition bar production hall, an automated storage facility as well as offices and staff buildings. Moreover, there are plans to purchase production lines that are suitable for manufacturing and packaging protein and energy bars.
“The trust that our worldwide strongly growing customer base places in us strengthens our belief that we are capable of building a global brand from Hungary. Therefore, we aim to implement more developments, so that we can enrich our portfolio of 1,900 products with ever more exciting items,” BioTech USA CEO Bálint Lévai said.
The company, one of Europe’s largest and most dynamically growing sport food supplement manufacturers and distributors is present in over 100 countries: it has 24 web shops, 270 franchise stores and 4,500 partners. Apart from BioTech USA, three more brands are part of the corporate group: Builder, Hungary’s most popular food supplement web shop; VitaminShop, a new multibrand web shop that targets regular vitamin consumers and Scitec Nutrition, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency reports.
