A second production unit and a new logistics center of Sensirion Hungary Ltd. were inaugurated this Wednesday in Debrecen, E Hungary. The development was realized with a HUF 4.5 billion investment of WX Sharing Ltd., jointly owned by SZINORG Group and XANGA Group, in a build-to-suit construction.
According to a statement by the company, the 7,000-square-meter expansion consists of two main units: in the first phase, a 1,600-square-meter logistics center consisting of two warehouse sections was built, while in the second phase, a 5,000-square-meter, two-story production hall was completed. The latter also has three to three production areas, logistics and social rooms, offices, meeting rooms, a 330-square-meter auditorium (SensiAcademy) and a rooftop café with panoramic views.
The new buildings will be fully integrated into Sensirion's sustainability system: fossil-free operation, geothermal heating and cooling, heat recovery and solar systems will ensure energy efficiency, they said. They added that the roof structure is designed to accommodate a solar PV system over its entire surface, enabling the company to generate a quarter of its energy needs locally.
At the handover ceremony, Franziska Brem, Vice President Operations at Sensirion AG, said that their Debrecen-based unit has now become a strategic hub. "Our future goal is to continue to grow sustainably, innovatively and collaboratively," she added.
