The engineering office BUILD IT Mérnökiroda Ltd. will build a prefabricated housing production line and plant in Sóskút, SW of Budapest, with EU funding of HUF 1.556 billion, the company told MTI on Thursday.
The company won the conditionally non-refundable grant from the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program (Ginop) Plus. The total cost of the investment is HUF 3.112 billion.
According to the press release, the construction of Hungary's new prefabricated housing plant ModulWood in Sóskút will start in April this year. The aim of the development is to replace the current manufactory-style house production with a professional production plant equipped with automated production lines. This will reduce the time needed to produce the elements of a prefabricated house from the current several months to a few weeks.
The development will result in the construction of a modern production hall with a production line for the production of modular prefabricated house elements.
The modular prefabricated housing technology is being developed by the company on the basis of a unique patent, MTI was told. The essence of the technology is that the modules are practically assembled (painted, painted, mechanized) under factory conditions, delivered to a given site and assembled with the help of a truck crane. Thus, the assembly of a house to the delivery of the keys takes up to 10 days, depending on the size.
Under the current conditions, they can produce 5-6 houses per year, which will increase to 100 houses per year once the factory is up and running, accounting for 4-5% of the domestic market for prefabricated houses.
It was also pointed out that BUILD IT Mérnökiroda, which currently employs 48 people, will create more than 50 new jobs in the region thanks to the investment.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2024, but trial production is planned to start in May 2024.
According to publicly available company data, BUILD IT Mérnökiroda Ltd. had net sales of HUF 7.444 billion last year, compared to HUF 3.102 billion in 2021. Last year, the company closed with a profit of HUF 425.550 million, more than HUF 2 million higher than its profit after tax a year earlier.
