Germany-based SCHOTT’s project to build a new production hub for glass prefillable syringes (PFS) is going to plan as evidenced by the launch of the construction celebrated at a groundbreaking event in Lukácsháza in Vas County, W Hungary. With the EUR 76 million investment, up to 120 newly created jobs will be available.
The German SCHOTT Group produces special glassware, glass ceramics and related high-end material, with its Hungarian subsidiary, SCHOTT Hungary Kft. being the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing plant of the Group.
The company decided to add a second production hub for glass PFS to its global manufacturing network. Thus, a EUR 76 million investment is envisaged at its Lukácsháza site located in the Western part of Hungary, Vas County. The product that requires cutting-edge technology is manufactured by SCHOTT currently only at its site in Switzerland.
The new facility will use fully automated manufacturing processes, state-of-the-art machinery as well as an advanced camera-controlled inspection system.
The high-quality PFS not only offer a stable, long-term storage solution for drugs, but also a safe and convenient delivery system for patients and clinicians.
The company plans to complete the capacity expansion by 2024.
