SPAR: 25 years in Hungary

The SPAR supermarket chain has been present in Hungary for 25 years. Austria SPAR International AG purchased a Hungarian chain of stores in 1991 and developed it into a national network of stores that now consists of 32 INTERSPAR hypermarkets, 349 SPAR és City SPAR supermarkets and 75 franchise stores in Hungary.

As the company's Hungarian managing director, Gabriella Heiszler pointed out at the anniversary press briefing, SPAR Hungary Ltd. realized in the last business year a turnover of HUF 488.2 billion, 3% more than in the previous year.

With more than 13 thousand employees, it is the country's largest employer. Last year, the company invested EUR 32 million - a total of EUR 959 million over the last 25 years.
