Construction work on four new studios at the Fót Film Studio will begin within weeks, the National Film Institute (NFI) informed the Hungarian state news agency MTI on Monday.
According to the information, in the largest ever state-funded studio development, the production capacity of the Fót Film Studio, just northeast of Budapest, will be almost five times larger, and the preparatory works for the development have been ongoing for one and a half years.
As NFI says, the four new studios being built in the studio complex will add 10,000 square meters of floor space to the current studio capacity, making a total of 12,670 square meters available for productions, while two of the four studios can be connected to serve the needs of large-scale productions in parallel.
A representative reception building with a 40-seat screening room will also be built, as well as offices, a restaurant and storage space. The energy management system of the existing buildings will be upgraded and the internal road and utility network will be renovated and improved.
The extensive works are expected to make the Fót studio complex a key player in the film industry, both internationally and domestically, and will also improve the cost-effectiveness of its operation, the NFI statement says. Construction works will be carried out in several phases, with completion of the entire development scheduled for the end of 2023.
