Szeplast Plc., a manufacturer of PVC granulates and powder mixtures, is expanding its production capacity and product range with an investment of more than HUF 1.3 billion with EU support, the company informed MTI.
According to the press release, HUF 632 million of the HUF 1.386 billion project, which will be completed by the fall of 2024, will be covered by a conditional non-reimbursable grant.
Founded in 1992 and based in Szeged, SE Hungary, Szeplast Plc., which is owned directly or indirectly by Hungarian private individuals, producing at least 20-30,000 tons of compounded granules annually, in line with industry standards. Over the years, the company has replaced three of its four PVC granulate production lines with new equipment, and the project will also replace the fourth. This will increase the company's capacity to over 15,000 tons and the operation and maintenance of the industry-leading equipment will be easier than the older one.
As part of the upgrade, the company will also install new types of equipment for the production of innovative plastic pellet raw materials. The production of HFFR, which is used to replace PVC in industrial low-voltage cables and building cables for environmental and safety reasons, will give the company a foothold and the expansion of production capacity will also contribute to growth. The new equipment will also be capable of digital in-production quality control, which will enable a fast-response in-production control process, mainly by reducing scrap.
Szeplast Plc. is also expanding its warehouse capacity: the area surrounding the production hall will be converted into an open-covered warehouse and raw material storage silos will be installed to receive bulk raw materials. This will reduce the amount of packaging material used and allow the raw material to be automatically transported to the place of use. As part of the investment, the basic infrastructure of the site on Vass Mátyás road will be upgraded, roads will be renovated and extended, the electricity network will be upgraded, a solar panel system will be installed and a modern fire alarm system will be installed.
