Water Purification Factory Expanded in Oroszlány

December 10, 2019

French company Suez is expanding its water purification membrane factory in Oroszlány, west of Budapest with an investment of HUF 9.6 billion, creating 85 new jobs.

As the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó stressed at the announcement of the investment in Budapest, the products of the Oroszlány plant are already used worldwide, including in UN peacekeeping missions and many NATO operations. He added that the Hungarian government subsidizes the expansion project with HUF 1.7 billion.

Yuvbir Singh (pictured), the president and CEO of Suez's Hungarian subsidiary, Suez Water Technologies and Solutions Hungary Ltd., justified the 35% expansion in Oroszlány by the fact that the plant, set up in 2002, has reached its capacity limit after several upgrades.

Suez Water Technologies and Solutions operates nearly 200 plants worldwide and employs 11,000 people. Almost a thousand people work for their Hungarian company, which achieved sales of EUR 160 million in 2017 and EUR 171 million in 2018, respectively. After-tax profit was EUR 25 million in 2017 and EUR 18 million last year.
